A former Barcelona attacker is considering a shock return to the Catalan club after time away from the Blaugrana.
The international attacker, who previously enjoyed a spell at Spotify Camp Nou, is reportedly determined to leave his current club in search of top-level European competition.
1Driven by a desire to compete in the UEFA Champions League once again, the player has instructed his representatives to prioritize a move back to the La Liga champions, even offering to accept a significant pay cut to facilitate the transfer.
The forward seeking a return to Barcelona is Portuguese international João Félix.
The 26-year-old, currently playing in Saudi Arabia for Al Nassr, sees his contract expiring at the end of the season and is actively planning his next career move.
According to Diario Sport, his agent Jorge Mendes has already reached out to the Barcelona board to express Félix’s willingness to rejoin the club on a free transfer.
Félix previously spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Barça, scoring 10 goals in all competitions, and has never hidden his fondness for the club, recently describing his time in Catalonia as a childhood dream fulfilled.
Despite Félix’s enthusiasm for a reunion, Barcelona’s executive team and head coach Hansi Flick reportedly view a potential move as a low priority.
The Catalan club currently boasts deep attacking options along the frontline, featuring stars like Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and recent arrivals.
While Félix remains hopeful that an opportunity will arise before his contract in Saudi Arabia officially concludes, the ball remains entirely in Barcelona’s court.
Unless significant departures occur in the attacking department over the coming months, Deco and Hansi Flick are unlikely to pursue the free-agent deal.
Nevertheless, the Portuguese star’s willingness to drastically lower his financial demands ensures his name will continue to float around the Spotify Camp Nou offices as the transfer window approaches.
