Barcelona are about to have a financial boost as the summer transfer window approaches, with the deal of one of their La Masia players on loan set to go through.

According to AS, the deal shows that the club can generate money from youth academy products, even if they never find a way into the first team.

With sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick shaping the 2025/26 season as pivotal, any extra input will provide a slight aid in managing La Liga’s spending limitations and guidelines.

The deal will be for left-back Alex Valle, a €6 million transfer triggered by Serie A side Como 1907.

The 21-year-old Valle has been on loan to Como since January after a loan spell at Celtic and impressed coach Cesc Fabregas.

At Celtic, Valle played well but was not able to find his way into Flick’s plans, preferring Gerard Martin as Alejandro Balde’s backup.

He found his confidence back at Como, causing Fabregas to pursue a permanent deal.

The deal is nearly complete, and will see Barcelona take €4 million this summer and €2 million in 2026.

Valle’s choice to remain at Como was an indicator of a club having a promising Serie A campaign and of Fabregas’ faith in his talent.

For Barcelona, the transfer not only generates funds but also aligns the wage bill better to comply with financial fair play regulations, and while Valle was unable to break into the first team of the club, his success in Italy is an indication that La Masia still continually produces players with talent that flourish all over Europe.

The transfer itself may be small-time, but it is a win for Barcelona as they grapple with the challenge of managing their finances with a desire for trophies.
