Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared a thrilling update on Manchester United’s winger, Marcus Rashford future.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said, “At Barcelona, they still believe Marcus Rashford has the possibility to be an option for the summer transfer market,” referencing Barcelona’s desire to recruit the 27-year-old forward.
According to reports, Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, has engaged super-agent Pini Zahavi to help facilitate a potential move to Camp Nou and is even willing to reduce his current £325,000-a-week wage to facilitate his departure.
The club is not new to Rashford, as they attempted to reach a deal with Manchester United for the England international in the January window but were not able to due to & relative Financial Fair Play restraints, especially considering Ansu Fati’s continued staying at the club.
Fabrizio Romano added that Barcelona may be required to sell Fati in order to balance the books for Rashford’s prospective arrival.
Rashford is enjoying a revival at Villa, with four goals and six assists in 17 appearances, but the club is hesitant to trigger their £40m option to sign the player permanently due to the wages Rashford was earning and a hamstring injury suffered at the beginning of the year.
Inter Milan has also entered the fray for Rashford’s signature, as the player wants a shot at Champions League football, which would effectively eliminate Villa from contention.
Now that Manchester United wants to increase their transfer budget, they are willing to sell Rashford for around €35m (£30m), a significant discount from Villa’s option.
As Rashford seemingly prefers a move to Barcelona with discussions ongoing, this, in all likelihood,d is going to be a major transfer saga this summer.
