Everton are showing serious ambition by preparing a shock move to lure a talented Barcelona defender away from Camp Nou.
English recruitment teams at Goodison Park, alongside suitors like Fulham and Sunderland, have intensified their scouting operations across La Liga to identify dynamic full-backs capable of elevating their defensive transitions.
With the Merseyside outfit looking to secure proven top-flight quality, the Catalan giants’ defensive options have emerged as a prime focus of interest.
The high-profile full-back at the center of this Premier League speculation as Everton eye a shock move for Barcelona defender is Spain international Alejandro Balde, as reported by CaughtOffside.
The 22-year-old left-back has long been viewed as a vital asset in Barcelona’s backline, renowned for his explosive pace, tireless line-breaking runs, and tactical adaptability under Hansi Flick.
However, Everton’s sporting directors have added Balde to their shortlist as part of a wider effort to bring world-class athletic profile and European experience to their defensive unit.
From Barcelona’s perspective, authorizing the sale of a homegrown La Masia graduate presents a severe tactical hurdle.
The Blaugrana hold strong negotiating leverage due to Balde’s long-term contract structure and view him as a fundamental pillar for the club’s future.
Unless an extraordinary financial proposal well above market value—in the region of €50 million to €60 million—is presented, Catalan directors will firmly reject any formal approaches from Premier League suitors during the upcoming window.
For Everton, targeting a defender of Balde’s caliber demonstrates their high ambition as they seek to establish long-term stability and a competitive edge in the Premier League.
While securing a deal directly from Barcelona will be exceptionally difficult given the player’s status at Spotify Camp Nou, the Toffees remain attentive to any potential shifts in the Catalan club’s financial positioning.
As the transfer window approaches, football fans will watch whether Everton formalize their ambitious inquiry or shift focus toward alternate targets.
