Barcelona’s focus on youth recruitment shows no signs of slowing down as the club continues to target the best emerging talent across Catalonia.
La Masia remains at the heart of the club’s long-term vision, and recent moves suggest the Blaugrana are doubling down on securing the region’s brightest prospects before rivals can act.
With competition intensifying from across Spain, Barcelona are moving early and decisively in the youth market.
That strategy appears to have paid off once again, with a highly-rated youngster now edging closer to making the switch.
According to SPORT, Pol Sabadi is expected to accept Barcelona’s proposal and join their academy setup in the near future.
The midfielder, currently part of RCD Espanyol’s youth system, has been identified as one of the standout talents of his age group in the region.
Set to turn 15 in July, he already represents Spain national under-15 football team, underlining his growing reputation on the national stage.
His development has been closely tracked for several years, with Barcelona having previously attempted to bring him in before he opted to join Espanyol from Girona FC in 2022.
Since then, Pol Sabadi has continued to impress with his technical quality and maturity beyond his years.
During his early stages, he showcased his attacking threat by scoring consistently despite playing against older opposition, before gradually evolving into a more complete midfielder.
This season, he has featured primarily at Under-16 level, operating in a deeper role where his positional awareness and composure on the ball have stood out.
Although injuries have limited his game time, he has still managed to make 13 appearances, contributing to his team’s strong campaign near the top of their division.
What makes him particularly appealing is his versatility, while naturally a midfielder, he is also capable of dropping into defence as a left-sided centre-back when required.
His left foot, vision and ability to dictate play have drawn attention not just from Barcelona, but also from Real Madrid CF and other top sides across the country.
Barcelona, however, appear to have won the race for his signature, continuing a recent trend of recruiting from their city rivals.
Last year alone, the club secured multiple young players from Espanyol’s academy, reinforcing their commitment to building for the future through local talent.
If completed, this move could be another significant step in shaping the next generation at La Masia, and it may not be the last switch between the two academies in the coming months.
