Barcelona have elevated a €50 million Villarreal attacker to priority status, with the club actively monitoring the player’s situation.
Sporting director Deco and president Joan Laporta have long appreciated the player’s profile, viewing him as an ideal fit for Hansi Flick’s high-octane positional play.
Despite moving to the Estadio de la Cerámica in 2025 on a long-term contract running through 2030, the Spanish sensation remains at the very top of Catalonia’s recruitment shortlist.
The €50m Villarreal attacker eyed by Barcelona is Spain international Alberto Moleiro, as reported by Fichajes.
The 23-year-old playmaker has continued his impressive ascension in Spain’s top flight, proving to be a primary creative spark in Villarreal’s frontline.
Flick’s technical staff value Moleiro’s ability to operate smoothly across tight central spaces or drift in from the left wing to link up play, generating interior overloads while players like Lamine Yamal maintain wide isolation on the opposite flank.
From Barcelona’s perspective, securing Moleiro involves both tactical fit and financial maneuvering.
The Catalan club believes the player would prioritize a move to Spotify Camp Nou, lured by the project and the prospect of reuniting with close friend and former Las Palmas teammate Pedri.
However, Villarreal hold a commanding bargaining position and demand a fee close to his €50 million valuation.
Barcelona’s board is currently exploring structured payment schedules with performance-related add-ons to accommodate the deal within La Liga’s strict financial fair play parameters.
For Barcelona, adding a player of Moleiro’s flair and press-resistant passing would significantly elevate their offensive options across domestic and European fronts.
Catalan scouts are scheduled to maintain in-person monitoring throughout the final months of 2026 before formal negotiations begin.
As the upcoming transfer windows draw near, Barcelona remain intent on turning their long-standing admiration for the Villarreal star into a concrete transfer reality.
