Barcelona is ready to secure one of the best young talents from Dinamo Zagreb by activating a €5 million release clause and securing future players.

In reports from Croatian Football, it is claimed the Catalan team has agreed to a €10 million deal with variables for a 16-year-old winger from Dinamo Zagreb.

While a deal is agreed, the player will remain at Dinamo for at least one more season thanks to Zvonimir Boban’s intervention, before joining Barcelona next year.

The young player is Cardoso Varela, a Portuguese winger, who captured everyone’s attention at the UEFA Under-17 European Championship.

Varela was an instrumental part of Portugal’s campaign as he played a key part in their journey to the final, scoring once and adding three assists.

He is young but has gotten first-team experience at the highest level and caught the attention of Barcelona’s scouts, who see him as a legitimate long-term investment.

Varela started at FC Porto, but did not renew his contract because he wanted to join a club with a clear pathway to progress.

Barca’s sporting director, Deco, acted quickly by approaching Varela’s camp last December. The young winger got an opportunity to explore Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and see the club’s vision and facilities.

The momentum of this transfer is largely down to the great relationship between Barcelona management and Varela’s agent Andy Bara, who is also the agent of Dani Olmo.

The relationship mitigated complications in negotiations, allowing them to keep the transfer low-key while remaining current with the deal.

Varela’s acquisition emphasizes Barcelona’s commitment to developing young players.

He will not join the first team immediately, but possesses the potential to further add flair to the squad when he becomes a part of it, continuing Barca’s tradition of both developing talent through La Masia and signing players with increased potential.
