Barcelona’s summer rebuild is starting to take shape behind the scenes, even before the transfer window officially opens.

Sporting director Deco has been quietly locking down key players with new long-term deals.

Ronald Araujo, Gavi, Pedri, Pau Cubarsí, and even Inigo Martinez have all agreed to stay at Camp Nou, laying the foundation for a squad capable of competing at the highest level.

Talks over a new contract for Lamine Yamal has also progressed in recent weeks.

The focus now has turned to securing the future of one of the team’s most important attacking threats, especially amid mounting pressure from abroad.

Barcelona have opened official contract talks with Raphinha, their Brazilian winger who is enjoying his most productive season since arriving from Leeds United.

Sporting director Deco has already met with Raphinha’s representatives, as reported by Jijantes FC via X, and the early signs are promising with both sides keen to reach an agreement.

The 27-year-old has contributed goals, assists, and consistently high work rate on the right flank, winning over fans and staff alike.

The club has been especially pleased with Raphinha’s professionalism, attitude, and leadership in a difficult transitional season.

With his current contract set to expire in 2026, Barcelona are not panicking but want to avoid uncertainty by extending his deal now, especially with Saudi Pro League clubs circling.

Early negotiations reportedly include the possibility of a release clause being inserted — similar to the flexible clause in Ronald Araujo’s new deal — should the player choose to move in the future.

Raphinha himself has made his stance clear in recent interviews: he wants to stay at Barcelona, but only if the club values him.

“I’m someone who thinks this way: I’ll only stay where they want me to stay,” he said.

“I might want to stay here my whole life, but if I feel they don’t want me here, I’ll have no problem thanking them.”

This approach has further endeared him to the Barcelona board, who now appear focused on finalising the terms of his stay.

While nothing is signed yet, a renewal looks increasingly likely — and for Barcelona, that’s one less question to answer this summer.
