Barcelona’s recruitment strategy continues to draw attention across Europe as the club quietly accelerates its plans for the next generation.

While first-team activity has been deliberately measured, there has been a clear sense of urgency behind the scenes.

Changes within the reserve structure have opened doors for fresh arrivals, with the club eager to rebalance after several recent exits.

Youth development remains central to the sporting project, especially as financial discipline still shapes decision-making.

That focus has already translated into multiple concrete moves this window.

Those early steps have seen Barcelona reinforce their pipeline with defensive additions and attacking prospects earmarked for long-term growth.

Deals for Patricio Pacifico and Juwensley Onstein have strengthened the back line, while Hamza Abdelkarim has been brought in to add firepower further forward.

Plans are also advancing for Norwich City winger Ajay Tavares and FC Twente defender Ruud Nijstad, both expected to arrive soon.

Yet, despite that flurry of business, the club believe there is still room for one more significant youth capture before the window closes.

That final piece could come in the form of Jesse Bisiwu, with Barcelona now firmly engaged in talks to secure the highly rated winger.

According to reports from SPORT, the Blaugrana have identified the Club Brugge youngster as a priority target, even if the operation ultimately has to be completed in June rather than immediately.

Jesse Bisiwu, who operates primarily on the left flank, has been on the club’s radar for months following a series of glowing scouting reports.

The 18-year-old enhanced his reputation on the international stage at the recent Under-17 World Cup in Qatar, where his pace, directness and maturity stood out against elite opposition.

Initial contact between Barcelona and his representatives dates back to early December, but this deal has proven more complex than others the club have wrapped up.

One complication was age-related, as Bisiwu only turned 18 on 22 January, preventing any agreement before then.

Club Brugge’s stance has also added layers to the negotiation, with the Belgian side viewing Bisiwu as the crown jewel of their academy and demanding a fee that reflects his perceived ceiling.

Barcelona explored creative structures, including a loan with a near-obligatory purchase clause, but those proposals were rejected outright. Interest from elsewhere has followed, with several European clubs making enquiries, though the player’s position has been clear throughout.

Bisiwu has informed Brugge that Barcelona is his preferred destination, a message he has reiterated despite the uncertainty surrounding the timing of the move.

Internally, the operation has been driven by Barca’s youth football department, though sporting director Deco has now taken a more hands-on role.

Within the club, there is growing confidence that the deal will be finalised either in the current window or at the start of the summer, reinforcing Barcelona’s long-term vision.
