Chelsea have targeted Barcelona’s defensive department by preparing a concrete €50 million offer for one of their key players.
The Stamford Bridge hierarchy, determined to add elite European composure and tactical versatility to their backline, has set their sights on a high-profile move.
According to Fichajes, Chelsea executives are readying an ambitious proposal worth around €50 million to test Barcelona’s willingness to part with one of their key international defenders.
The player at the center of the Premier League’s intense attention is French international Jules Koundé.
The 27-year-old, who signed a contract extension keeping him tied to Spotify Camp Nou until 2030, has seen intense speculation surround his future following shifting dynamics in Catalonia.
With Chelsea actively seeking a top-tier right-back option to bolster their defensive depth, Koundé has re-emerged as a primary target for the West London club, which has maintained long-standing interest in the defender since his time at Sevilla.
The prospect of a return to London carries genuine appeal for Koundé, who is reportedly open to a potential switch to the Premier League.
However, any deal remains complex due to his long-term contract status with Barcelona, which gives the La Liga giants ultimate control over his future.
While the Catalan side has historically considered him a crucial element of their squad, a bid exceeding €50 million could force the board to carefully balance the offer against their ongoing financial commitments.
Chelsea are not alone in monitoring the French star’s situation, with Premier League rivals Liverpool also keeping tabs on his availability ahead of the January window.
Nevertheless, Chelsea appear eager to seize the initiative and present a concrete offer.
As the transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on whether the Blues formalize their €50 million move to bring the French defender to Stamford Bridge.
