Chelsea and Manchester City have set their sights on a dazzling Barcelona teenager, poised to become the next big thing.

As the dust settles on the summer transfer window, Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City are already looking ahead to bolstering their squads with emerging talent.

Both clubs, renowned for their robust youth academies, have a history of nurturing homegrown players to meet Premier League and UEFA squad registration requirements.

However, their attention has now turned to a promising teenager from Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, whose performances have sparked interest across Europe.

With both clubs keen on enhancing their youth setups, this young prospect’s potential move could signal a significant coup for either side, as they aim to secure a player already on the radar of Barcelona’s first-team management.

The player catching the eye is Dro Fernandez, a 17-year-old Spanish starlet who has been making waves in Barcelona’s youth ranks.

According to Fichajes, Fernandez has impressed with his performances, notably scoring twice in the UEFA Youth League against Monaco and Young Boys during the 2024-25 campaign.

The six-cap Spain Under-17 international also featured off the bench in Barcelona’s 4-1 triumph over Trabzonspor in the competition’s final.

His recent debut for Barca Athletic in the Segunda Federation and inclusion as an unused substitute in Barcelona’s first three La Liga matches this season underline his high regard under manager Hansi Flick.

Barcelona, however, is resolute in its desire to keep Fernandez, whose contract runs until 2027.

The club’s faith in him is evident through his first-team exposure, signaling their intent to integrate him into senior football.

Yet, with Fernandez turning 18 in January, the allure of regular first-team opportunities at Chelsea or Manchester City could prove tempting.

Both clubs see him as a long-term investment, capable of adding flair and depth to their squads.

As the race for his signature heats up, Barcelona faces a challenge to convince their prodigy to stay, while Chelsea and City prepare to make their move for one of Europe’s brightest young talents.
