Barcelona’s recruitment team continue to scan the market for emerging talent despite already making significant progress on several major transfer targets this summer.
With attention focused on deals for Anthony Gordon, who has now been finalised, and Julian Alvarez, it would be easy to assume the club’s scouting department has paused work elsewhere.
Instead, Deco and his team are continuing to monitor a number of younger players who could strengthen the squad in the years ahead.
One area that has generated discussion internally is the defensive department.
While left-back is not currently viewed as a position requiring immediate reinforcement, Barcelona are conscious that circumstances can change quickly during a transfer window, particularly if departures materialise in the coming weeks.
That forward planning has led the club to closely follow Cruzeiro defender Kaiki Bruno, who has emerged as one of the latest names on Barcelona’s radar, as reported by Sport.
The 23-year-old has established himself as a regular starter in Brazil and is enjoying another impressive season, attracting growing attention from clubs across Europe.
At present, Barcelona are relatively comfortable on the left side of defence thanks to Alejandro Balde’s status as the undisputed first-choice option.
As a result, a move for Kaiki Bruno is not considered a priority right now.
However, should changes occur within the defensive unit this summer, the Catalan giants may be forced to revisit the market and accelerate their interest.
Real Betis are among the clubs credited with monitoring the Brazilian, while several other teams are believed to be tracking his progress closely.
Cruzeiro are understood to value the defender at around €15 million, although reports suggest negotiations could potentially lead to a deal closer to the €12 million mark.
That price tag makes him a relatively affordable option compared to many of the defenders currently available across Europe.
With Barcelona continuing to evaluate multiple possibilities across the squad, Kaiki Bruno’s name is one to keep an eye on as the club’s defensive planning evolves throughout the summer transfer window.
