A high-profile Bundesliga star is at the center of a transfer tussle as Barcelona and Bayern Munich look to secure the signature of the German International.

The 27-year-old defender has proved to be an important player for Bayer Leverkusen and is reportedly considering a contract offer from Bayern Munich, who are putting pressure on him to make a decision quickly.

However, Barcelona, despite a verbal agreement and a long-standing interest, has not been able to move quickly on securing his signature due to Financial Fair Play regulations and overpopulation in the central defense area of their squad, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Bayern Munich, who have just sold Eric Dier to AS Monaco, are in the driving seat.

The player we are talking about is Jonathan Tah, a strong center-back known for his poise and physicality, which has made him an attractive transfer target.

The German international has a strong advocate in Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick, who managed Tah while he was on international duty, however, the financial struggles of the club constrain Flick’s ability to act.

He is aware of Flick’s support and is allegedly willing to wait for Barcelona to resolve their financial struggles, but time is against him.

Barcelona needs to sell defenders to register new signings, whereas Bayern has no such issue with their finances and ability to shift the squad around.

Bayern’s proactivity exemplifies the inertia of Barcelona, underscoring the continued obstacles facing the Blaugrana in balancing their sporting aspirations and economic circumstances.

A deal for Tah to Bayern would be a significant blow for Barcelona, which would risk losing a priority target to a rival European team.

The next few days will be critical—if Barcelona cannot create enough salary space to buy players or find buyers for contracts, and is waving goodbye to another target, this time going red instead of Blaugrana.
