The Canadian attacker becomes a free agent this summer when his Lille contract expires, but he will not come cheap to whoever signs him up.

His future employers will be required to dig deep and make a total payout of around €34 million in wages demanded and bonus incentives,

The player is Jonathan David, according to Sky Sport CH.

David’s agents are reportedly demanding €9m a year wages, a €15m signing bonus, and €10m fee commissions, the whole package of which would be worth €34m.

All this, even though he is available on a free transfer, makes him a costly acquisition.

Juventus is slightly ahead in the pursuit, with Inter also interested.

The report states that Serie A clubs are in a better position than Premier League clubs as they will more likely spend on wages than on huge transfer fees.

But David’s dream move is La Liga, and he has already declared his love for Barcelona, the club he has idolised for years.

Although the Catalan giants are a desirable proposition, their financial issues may complicate the transfer.

As his contract runs out in June, David can pick his next club, but the cost is so steep that only the best players can pay his value.

Juventus seems to be the one in pursuit, but if Barcelona is smart, they can simply bid for the Canadian phenomenon.
