Barcelona reportedly monitors Nigerian striker as an alternative to Robert Lewandowski.

With Robert Lewandowski turning 37 later this year, Barcelona is already planning for the future and has identified a top candidate to eventually replace the Polish striker.

The 25-year-old forward, on loan from Napoli, has been on fire this campaign, scoring 29 goals in 33 competitive games.

His performances in the league have impressed European giants, with Barcelona now reportedly considering a transfer for the prolific forward.

According to Diario Sport, the player is Victor Oshimen

Barcelona considers Osimhen one of the best choices to reinforce their attack line.

Even though Lewandowski is part of Flick’s project, the club has market options in mind to guarantee depth and competition in the attack line.

Osimhen’s height, speed, and finishing make him an appropriate target, considering that he has a good record in Serie A, leading Napoli to win the 2022-23 Scudetto title.

Napoli will be auctioning Osimhen this summer following a row he had with the club management.

This may present Barcelona with the opportunity to sign him for a reduced price, though the competition will be keen.

Juventus is also keen on the Nigerian international, while Galatasaray is reported to be keen to retain him permanently following his impressive loan spell.

But Barcelona’s financial problems might complicate any transfer.

The club is being forced to balance the books as well as identify other areas that need to be addressed.

Osimhen’s salary and transfer fee might be difficult to pay unless Napoli agrees on a mutually acceptable payment schedule.

For the moment, Osimhen is strongly focused on ending the season with Galatasaray, but his future will be hotly debated during the next transfer window.

If Barcelona can get him, he may be the ideal combination of strength and scoring to complement—or in time, replace—Lewandowski.

But with several clubs already queuing up for his services, the Blaugrana will have to move quickly if they are to get him.
