Barcelona’s long-term planning continues to evolve as key contract situations edge closer to decision time.

With financial limits shaping every renewal and signing, the club’s hierarchy are being forced to balance sentiment with sustainability.

Veteran players are now under closer scrutiny than ever, particularly those approaching the latter stages of their careers.

Performances on the pitch remain the strongest bargaining tool, especially in high-pressure fixtures that still define seasons.

For months, the expectation has been growing that Robert Lewandowski could be heading towards a farewell from Barcelona at the end of the season.

The 37-year-old striker’s contract expires on 30 June, and so far there has been no renewal offer placed on the table, nor formal talks about an extension.

Those factors have fuelled widespread belief that his time in Catalonia is nearing its conclusion.

However, according to AS, the door to Lewandowski’s continuity at Barcelona is not completely shut.

All parties involved reportedly believe there is still time to address the situation, with the Poland captain’s future remaining open for discussion later in the season.

Despite uncertainty off the pitch, Robert Lewandowski has continued to earn widespread respect within the dressing room for his attitude and professionalism.

Even with his status as one of the most decorated strikers of his generation, he has accepted rotation in the No.9 role with Ferran Torres this season.

Rather than agitating for guaranteed minutes, Robert Lewandowski has chosen to compete in the most effective way possible: by delivering goals.

That approach was underlined once again in Saudi Arabia, where he found the net against Real Madrid to help Barcelona lift the Spanish Super Cup.

The strike took his tally to 10 goals in 1,000 minutes across 20 appearances this season, reinforcing his ongoing value despite his age.

Lewandowski has now scored in every Super Cup final he has played since joining Barcelona, winning three of the four finals he has featured in.

He left the Alinma Stadium in Jeddah to a warm ovation, reflecting the immense respect he commands in Saudi Arabia.

Several sources believe a move to Saudi Arabia next season is a strong possibility, with clubs there prepared to make significant financial offers.

Interest has also emerged from the United States, with Chicago Fire among those keen, although MLS sides are unable to match the financial power of Saudi clubs.

Despite that, no final decision has been made on Lewandowski’s next destination.

For now, Barcelona have not ruled out keeping their veteran striker beyond this season, leaving the story finely balanced as the campaign reaches its decisive phase.
