Barcelona set asking price for Raphinha

Barcelona have made a sensational decision to sell Raphinha for this price.

Barcelona have put a €80-90 million valuation on star winger Raphinha as talks of a contract extension stall, says Catalunya Radio.

The Brazilian attacker, who has until 2027 left on his deal, is said to want to sign a new deal keeping him at the Camp Nou for a further two years, with plans to continue performing at an elite level through to the 2026 World Cup.

But talks have shown disagreements on monetary terms, with the club refusing to budge on their salary cap limitations.

Raphinha’s representatives have demanded an increase in wages, a sign of his value to Hansi Flick’s team. The 28-year-old has been a standout this season, offering pace, invention, and goals from the left wing.

Barcelona’s finances, however, are still an issue. The club has indicated that they will not break their wage structure, a policy influenced by years of financial adversity and La Liga’s draconian financial rules.

Catalunya Radio says Barcelona are willing to allow Raphinha to depart if a big-money offer comes their way.

An offer in the region of €80-90 million might persuade the club to sell, particularly if a bidder is willing to offer the player a much bigger wage.

This price tag reflects Raphinha’s market value, with his combination of experience and panache sure to attract interest from Premier League clubs or deep-pocketed teams elsewhere.

For the time being, Raphinha is concentrating on playing for Barcelona, but the next few months will determine much.

Unless there is a deal, the club will lose bargaining power as his contract enters its last couple of years.

Supporters will want an agreement that retains the pacey winger in blaugrana, but the €80-90 million fee indicates Barcelona’s willingness to move on if their demands are not met.
