Replacing Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona is going to be a very hard job.
Despite being linked with plenty of players, the Polish striker is just one of a few players in world football who can guarantee you goals.
So far this campaign he has scored 35 goals and provided three assists in 40 games.
Due to this incredible form, it is expected that the Blaugrana will activate a clause in his contract to extend his current deal until 2026.
However, Deco and Joan Laporta are still expected to sign a striker with the long-term view to replace him this summer.
In a recent press conference, cited by Managing Barca, the Polish forward spoke about the Spanish side actively trying to find his ‘successor’.
“I’m not sure if anyone would like to be called “Robert Lewandowski’s successor,” or if they’re ready for that kind of pressure.
“Even if you see a player who has the potential to be one, talking about it publicly might put unnecessary pressure on him.”
Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is just one of many strikers who have been linked with the move.
The Nigerian forward is expected to depart Napoli next summer for a fee of around €75million.
However, Deco’s favourite option is apparently Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
Craig Hope from the Daily Mail has reported that Barcelona have had scouts watching the former Real Sociedad striker, most recently against West Ham United.
Unfortunately, the governor of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund who own Newcastle, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, has urged the Premier League side to resist any offers for his favourite player.
Isak’s future is apparently very dependent on if the Magpies qualify for the Champions League.
Currently in 6th, if Eddie Howe’s side fails to qualify for the UCL then the Swedish star will most likely ask for a move away, with it expected figures for his transfer being upwards of £100million,
Premier League sides Liverpool and Arsenal have been watching the 25-year-old for some time now, so if Barcelona are serious then they will need to pay up, something that may not be possible due to their current financial situation.
