Manchester United have already had an offer of £42 million turned down for Barcelona’s star.
United wants to strengthen their defense this summer, especially after doubts over the future of Luke Shaw.
According to Fichajes.net, the player is Alejandro Balde.
United have already recruited Patrick Dorgu in January.
But having failed to secure another target, Geovany Quenda, they switched their attention to Balde, the 21-year-old Spain international who is highly rated by most pundits.
United offered £42m, but Barcelona quickly rejected it, saying they have no plans to sell him unless an “astronomical” bid is made.
Barcelona considers him an integral part of their immediate and long-term plans.
The young left-back has been on top of his form this term, and the club has pursued a historic quadruple.
In all competitions, Balde has made 40 appearances, scoring one goal and making six assists, and he has been “one of the best in the world” as a left centre-back.
With United’s financial limitations, it is highly unlikely that they will be in a position to meet Barcelona’s stringent requirements and now have to seek elsewhere.
The club will be active in this summer window, with their different departments to be reinforced and some of its current players likely to depart too.
For now, Balde remains firmly in Barcelona’s plans, leaving Manchester United to look elsewhere for a left-back solution.
