Barcelona’s pre-season preparations continue to draw global attention, with boss Hansi Flick overseeing training sessions that include a blend of youth and experience.

The Catalan giants are ready for their summer tour, with La Masia prospects such as Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi expected to feature prominently under Flick’s guidance.

Meanwhile, the club’s ongoing efforts to offload fringe players and trim the wage bill remain central to their strategy, as sporting director Deco continues negotiations on both incomings and outgoings.

One key focus this summer has also been retaining promising young talents, particularly those on the fringes of the first team, as Barca look to rebuild for the long term without overspending.

In the midst of all this, a quiet but surprising announcement has emerged regarding one of their lesser-known loanees.

Ghanaian attacker Abdul Aziz Issah has had his loan spell at Barcelona renewed for another season, despite a largely forgettable debut campaign in Spain.

This was officially confirmed by Barca Atletic via X.

The 19-year-old joined the Blaugrana last summer on loan from Dreams FC, a club based in Ghana.

Barca had high hope and expectations around Abdul Aziz Issah.

However, those hopes quickly faded as Issah struggled to make an impact.

Across the entire 2024/25 season, he clocked just 26 minutes of competitive action, and that too at youth level.

Despite this, Barcelona confirmed this week that they’ve reached an agreement with Dreams FC to extend the youngster’s loan until June 30, 2026.

A club statement read: “FC Barcelona and Dreams FC have reached an agreement to extend Aziz Issah’s loan for another season, until June 30, 2026.

The Ghanaian striker will return to Barca Atletic after a first year of adaptation.”

This unexpected show of faith suggests the club still believe the teenage striker could come good with time and stability.

Issah will now report back to Barca Atletic, where he’ll hope to kickstart his European career properly in the upcoming season.

His situation mirrors the club’s broader approach: investing in youth, even when early signs fall short.
