Barcelona’s summer overhaul isn’t limited to the first team.

While Hansi Flick continues to fine-tune his squad for the upcoming campaign, changes are rippling through the club’s famed youth ranks.

The Catalan giants are actively restructuring at multiple levels, with a strong emphasis on youth integration, loan exits, and squad depth.

As the club moves forward with its pursuit of Nico Williams and prepares to offload fringe players to ease financial pressure, Barcelona’s academy is also undergoing a quiet transformation.

While all eyes are on possible high-profile incomings, another La Masia graduate has now officially exited the club.

Aleix Garrido, a midfielder who has been with Barcelona for 13 years, is leaving the club following the expiration of his contract.

The 21-year-old was a staple of the youth system, having joined in 2012 at the Benjamin C level, and rose through the ranks to become captain of Barca Atletic.

His departure was confirmed in an official club statement, which read: “Aleix Garrido will not continue at FC Barcelona next season.

“The 21-year-old player and captain of Barca Atletic is ending a 13-season spell at the Club, from joining as a youth player to making his first-team debut.

“The Club wishes him the best of luck in the future, both personally and professionally.”

Aleix Garrido made his senior debut under Xavi Hernandez in a La Liga match against Elche in the 2022/23 season.

That would be his only appearance with the first team.

Despite missing part of the 2024/25 campaign due to injury, the midfielder returned to feature prominently for Barca Atletic.

With his contract set to expire on 30 June, Garrido has decided to seek a fresh challenge.

Reports suggest he is set to join Eibar, where he will aim to rebuild his momentum and get regular first-team football.

While not a headline-making exit, Garrido’s departure marks the end of a long association with the club—and yet another sign that Barcelona are turning a page both on and off the pitch.
