A Barcelona defender on loan has discussed his future as he is currently doing well during his loan from Camp Nou.

This player has had a strong run of form after moving temporary club, and he admitted that he is happy playing football, but he contemplated that he is still unclear where his long-term future lies.

He mentioned that he is focused on playing and performing, but that overall negotiation can only be made between clubs.

The centre-back has found himself as a key piece of Diego Simeone’s defense, where he truly wants to prove he belongs.

In an interview, he noted that he is happy to work hard in training and games, and mentioned that he will see where the club leave it, as it is all about the two clubs taking decisions from here, according to Mundo Deportivo.

As he parent club desires to sell him for good, expect to know his final decision in time.

The player is Clement Lenglet, and he is currently on loan at Atlético Madrid.

The French defender has certainly been consistent, and there has been some chatter that Atletico may attempt to sign him on a more permanent deal as a result.

Lenglet, however, is taking it slow, stating, “I have a two-year contract with Barcelona, and we have not discussed the future yet.”

Barcelona does not want Lenglet back because they have their financial problems to solve right now, and generally, there is not much need on the sporting side for him to return.

Given his high wages as well, it’s unlikely they would attempt to bring him back, and as mentioned, Barcelona would hopefully prefer a permanent sale if something is feasible.

Atletico Madrid would be expected to be in the pole position to sign him, but if Lenglet continues his renaissance, it is possible that other clubs could also be interested and willing to pay more for him.

For now, Lenglet is happy being in Madrid, and if they agree, he could stay there; Barcelona just wants rid of him, and he is now an Atletico target, so perhaps we could get a clearer picture of things in the summer if he gets a move.
