Barcelona’s focus on youth development has been a major pillar of their identity for decades, with La Masia producing world-class talent that continues to impact the first team today.

Even with the recent emergence of stars like Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi, the club is leaving no stone unturned in its pursuit of future gems.

Manager Hansi Flick has made it clear that alongside marquee signings, youth recruitment will play a vital role in building Barcelona’s next golden generation.

With financial limitations still present, low-cost high-potential signings are increasingly appealing to the Catalan giants.

Now, attention has turned to a 16-year-old forward already drawing comparisons to Scandinavian greats.

Barcelona have intensified their interest in Danish striker Mikkel Bro Hansen, who currently plays for Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.

According to SPORT, the La Liga giants recently sent scouts to watch the teenager in action during Denmark’s U-16 match against England, and they’ve come away impressed.

Mikkel Bro Hansen, who has already scored six goals and provided two assists in the Norwegian Cup, as well as netting three times for Denmark’s U-16s, is being closely tracked by Barça’s youth recruitment team.

Danish Scout has also reported that the Blaugrana are “pushing harder” to land the striker, with their competition believed to include several top clubs from England, Germany, and Italy.

However, Bodo/Glimt are not ready to let go just yet and are hoping the youngster breaks into their senior squad before any transfer is considered.

Barcelona’s long-term plan is to bring Bro Hansen into La Masia, where he could follow in the footsteps of some of his idols.

It’s noted that the player is a vocal admirer of Barcelona, following the club and its youth arms on social media, as well as players like Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Guille Fernandez.

His current valuation sits around the €500,000 mark, a price well within reach for the Catalans despite their financial constraints.

The coming months will be crucial as Barcelona decide whether to formalise their interest in a player tipped to be the next Scandinavian star.
