Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy continues to be a vital pillar of the club’s long-term vision under Hansi Flick, and this is evident in that eight La Masia youngsters are set to be called up to the first-team’s pre-season tour.
The Catalan giants have seen a surge of interest in their youth prospects this summer, with scouts from top Premier League sides keeping a close eye on the next wave of talent coming through the ranks.
Amid uncertainty surrounding Barcelona’s financial muscle in the transfer market, the club’s emphasis on developing their own has never been more important.
With names like Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi already breaking through, the Blaugrana hierarchy are wasting no time in ensuring the next generation remains committed to the club’s vision.
And their latest move has confirmed exactly that.
Barcelona have officially tied down one of their brightest young defenders, Jordi Pesquer, to a new deal this week, as Barcelona revealed via X.
At just 16 years of age, Jordi Pesquer is regarded internally as a potential first-team player in the making, having already showcased his ability across several youth levels.

The teenage left-back spent last season impressing for Barca’s Cadete A team, coached by Cesc Bosch, where his composure on the ball and defensive instincts caught the eye.
After a string of strong displays, discussions were opened between the club and Pesquer’s representatives over an extended stay.
That process has now concluded, with Pesquer putting pen to paper to continue his development at the club.
A statement shared across Barcelona’s official channels on Thursday read: ‘The player Jordi Pesquer has signed, in the presence of the Youth Football Director, Jose Ramon Alexanco, his continuation with the club in his youth stage.’
While the deal doesn’t yet transition the youngster into a professional contract, it marks a clear sign of intent from the club to safeguard their homegrown gems before they attract attention from abroad.
La Masia may not be producing global stars every year, but with moves like this, Barcelona are making sure the foundation remains strong.
