FC Barcelona, facing both an over-populated midfield and financial difficulties, has placed a price on one of their young players so they can consider a sale this summer – €50 million.
While they remain confident in the Ochricla’s talent and recently handed him an extension until 2028, Barcelona must try to balance their squad structure and make a profit.
A number of really big clubs have been interested in the last couple of months, especially from the Premier League.
If a decent amount is offered, it certainly is a potential move. Of course, the case is not so simple with this player, given his loyalty to the club; if he were to leave, his heart will always lie with the Blaugrana.
The midfielder in question is Marc Casado, a La Masia graduate who had his breakout season last year, although his minutes have decreased in 2025 when Frenkie de Jong took over as a starter again, as reported by Diario Sport.
Chelsea has come into the picture with their usual heavy investments, and it wasn’t by accident.
The Chelsea and Barcelona relationship has generated some interest with talented players like Fabregas, who have had a connection with La Masia graduates.
Atletico Madrid also asked questions about Casado, and practically every club in the Premier League is at least whispering the name.
Barcelona have always had a €100m release clause on Casado, but are happy to negotiate around €50m if the player wants to leave.
We can assume his market value would be around €30m – hence the intent to maximise any future benefits from this player.
Barca’s midfield has plenty of depth with players such as Pedri, Gavi, and Dani Olmo, as well as the imminent return of Marc Bernal, which limits Casado’s minutes.
Hansi Flick has made it clear that he favours other players, which will leave Casado with the eternal question of whether he has a future at the club.
