Barcelona have set their sights on a dynamic Atalanta star to bolster their attack, aiming to secure a cost-effective deal.
In navigating the circumstances of Financial Fair Play, Barcelona is looking for a way to get another low-cost acquisition to help boost their attack, and this player is again part of the discussion involving Barcelona.
Barcelona has been keen on this player since March, when they have been talking about their impressive 27-goal-and-assist tally this season.
While the exact amount of what they may have to pay has been debated from anywhere from €30 million to €60 million, the way this player has left Barcelona the opportunity to negotiate whether their finances can make a reality both sides.
The player is Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, a 27-year-old winger considered a value purchase in 2 – other targets were more expensive, like there will not be much debate about Lookman from a pricing standpoint because of where Lookman has gotten to now by having them, as per TV3
I think to be clear, there haven’t been active talks, and I would suspect that sources confirming Look valued highly at the president’s eye and money coming to go anywhere to lay down.
Apart from Lookman, Barcelona is looking at much more expensive options, such as Luis Diaz of Liverpool and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United.
Because of his hefty transfer fee, it would be much more difficult for Barcelona to sign Diaz, while Rashford could demand a wage that would push Barcelona to the limits of the wage cap.
These factors sway the scales back toward Lookman being the obvious choice.
Given Flick’s goal to overhaul the attacking side of Barcelona, in my opinion, signing Lookman could prove very good business, but one must remember there could be financial and competitive factors that are yet to be overcome, meaning this will be a decisive moment in Barcelona’s summer transfer strategy.
