AS Monaco is reportedly preparing an ambitious bid to sign one of Barcelona’s most promising young talents, shaking up the summer transfer market.
A fringe player at Barcelona sees himself with an uncertain future at Camp Nou after a disappointing season, which likely marks the end of his time at the club.
According to Mundo Deportivo, French top-flight side AS Monaco is reportedly looking to upgrade their squad after finishing in third place and is now off to the Champions League.
The club wants to attract the 22-year-old as a prime target to strengthen their forward line for next season.
However, they still face questions over the viability of the contract due to the player’s injury issues.
That player is Ansu Fati, who has yet to regain the confidence that he once had when Barcelona first signed him.
He was once seen as the shining prospect of Barcelona, but continuous injuries have hampered his development into that role, which has now led to the loss of faith from manager Hansi Flick.
Barcelona, more importantly, is looking to offload him to relieve their wage bill.
Fati is allegedly open to leaving, as he understands he is not in the long-term plans of the club.
AS Monaco’s interest in Fati returns, given he has played at an elite level,l which would help them in their Champions League campaign with Adi Hutter.
However, considering his injury history, Fati may get a loan with an option to buy and not a permanent transfer.
Fati has garnered interest from several La Liga clubs beyond Monaco, including Sevilla, Valencia, and Real Sociedad, who all believe in the young forward despite not performing this season.
They are looking at his potential. Barcelona wants a permanent exit, and they will hope to capitalize on some of this interest to rid themselves of the massive wages owed.
With summer approaching, Fati’s next destination is still uncertain, but a fresh start somewhere else could ignite his once-promising career again.
For now, AS Monaco’s interest presents a tantalizing opportunity for the Spaniard to rediscover himself in a new league.
