Arsenal midfielder is said to be prioritizing a transfer to Barcelona this summer as his Gunners deal runs out.

Barcelona, who are aware of his status, consider him to be a low-budget signing, owing to their strained finances.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the player is Thomas Partey.

The 31-year-old Ghanaian international has three months remaining on his existing deal and will leave as a free agent unless there is a late extension.

In this campaign, Partey has played in different roles for Mikel Arteta, such as right-back and holding midfield, and has made 43 appearances with 36 starts.

While Barcelona’s midfield is already well-stocked with Frenkie de Jong, Marc Casadó, and Marc Bernal, they might need Partey as a Plan B option to be an emergency right-back.

Furthermore, if De Jong – who has a 2026 expiry on his contract – exits or refuses to sign an extension, Partey might be a suitable backup.

Currently, the Arsenal player is still a wild card for the Catalan team to sign next summer.
