Barcelona’s summer overhaul under Hansi Flick is beginning to take shape, with several high-profile exits expected as the club continues efforts to rebuild both financially and tactically.

After already sanctioning moves for fringe players and finalising permanent deals for loanees, the Catalan giants are now parting ways with one of their brightest La Masia graduates.

In a summer where all eyes have been on incomings, it’s the departures that are quietly shaping Barca’s immediate future — and one big name is now set for a new adventure.

Ansu Fati, once seen as Lionel Messi’s heir and the symbolic No.10 at Camp Nou, is on the verge of leaving FC Barcelona to join Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the deal is expected to be finalised this Friday, following successful talks between both clubs, the player’s agent Jorge Mendes, and Monaco boss Adi Hutter.

The agreement will see the 22-year-old winger move on a season-long loan, with Monaco covering 50% of his wages.

Crucially, the deal includes an €11 million purchase option and a €28 million buyback clause in favour of Barca.

Before departing, Ansu will sign a one-year contract extension at Barcelona, stretching his current deal from 2027 to 2028.

This adjustment helps the club spread his wages more effectively in line with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Medical tests are scheduled for Thursday, followed by contract formalities on Friday, which will then see Ansu Fati join his new teammates in Monaco on Saturday.

The move comes after a challenging season for Fati, who struggled for both form and fitness at Barcelona, and spent time on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Seen as a fresh start, Monaco provides the talented forward with an opportunity to rediscover his spark under a new system and away from the pressure of replacing Messi.

With Ansu’s departure, the No.10 shirt at Barcelona is set to become vacant — and all signs suggest that teenage sensation Lamine Yamal could be handed the legendary number ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
