The Catalan giants have entered a defining period in their rebuild under new manager Hansi Flick, with major changes expected across the board.

With Joan Garcia already in the bag and the club advancing in talks for Nico Williams, Barcelona are aggressively pursuing new talent to rejuvenate the squad.

However, there’s no escaping the harsh financial realities that continue to shadow the Blaugrana’s ambitions.

In order to comply with LaLiga’s Financial Fair Play regulations, the club must now make space — both on the wage bill and in the dressing room.

That means tough decisions are on the table, and one such decision could involve a former Chelsea fan favourite.

According to Sempre Barca, Barcelona have placed Danish centre-back Andreas Christensen on the transfer list this summer to help balance the books.

Hansi Flick is reportedly open to the idea of parting ways with the 29-year-old, who arrived from Chelsea on a free transfer in 2022 and has been a steady presence when fit.

Despite missing a large chunk of the 2024/25 season due to injury, Andreas Christensen returned strongly and featured prominently in the final stages of the campaign.

However, several Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Nassr, Al-Shabab, and the ambitious Neom SC, have made it known they are ready to table offers in the region of €20 million.

While Christensen is understood to prefer staying in Europe, his options there are also growing, with Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, West Ham, Aston Villa and Brentford all being approached with the possibility of signing the Danish international.

Selling Christensen, despite his solid performances, would be seen as a financial win for the club given that he arrived on a free.

More importantly, it would help clear the path for the club to register new signings as they look to reshape the spine of the team.
