The summer transfer market is heating up as AC Milan and Barcelona clash over which team should sign a tropical defender.

Both clubs appear motivated to bolster their defenses as they ramp up their search for this young prospect, so scouting this player will be a priority over the summer transfer window.

The summer battle highlights the ambition of the Serie A and La Liga sides to sign a player who could improve their defense.

The chances of them both moving for the same out-of-contract player are growing as both sides are preparing to act and take both clubs to the negotiating table.

The key player that appears to be at stake is Marc Pubill, a 22-year-old Almería full-back,  valued at €15 million according to  Gianluca Di Marzio.

He is a player who prompted rapid development, including his contribution to Spain’s Olympic gold medal in the previous year and his presence in the Spanish team for the Olympics.

Barcelona sizes him up as a long-term addition in defense, which they might subsequently loan out to Real Betis, while AC Milan sees him as a replacement for a not-so-far departed Alessandro Florenzi.

The €15 million transfer fee makes for a compelling target, although Almería’s desire to maximize the fee proves a challenge because of their obligation to share 25% of the profit with Levante.

The battle sees AC Milan aiming to be aggressive in the transfer market, against Barcelona’s financial issues.

With the deadline looming, this battle could determine how both clubs defend moving forward.

The clubs aren’t the only ones sweating – the fans are eagerly awaiting an announcement from Pubill that may or may not be dependent on him feeling he will play regularly in the project.
