With the summer transfer window on the horizon, the €50 million-rated Barcelona star is at the center of transfer speculation.
FC Barcelona is preparing for an important moment, with one of their key attacking players gaining interest from many of the top clubs in Europe.
Reports have emerged that the Catalan powerhouses are going to listen to offers for that versatile forward; however, from reports that will only happen if that one condition is met.
Specifically, the Catalan giants, under ongoing financial stress, are more than open to offers for a player that proved his goalscoring ability last season; however in his future with Barcelona depends on how things will break concerning his role on the pitch with the club going forward.
The player in question is Ferran Torres, who scored 19 goals last season in all competitions, according to Diario Sport.
Barcelona would only even look at an offer for Torres if he formally advised them he wanted a transfer to search for another football challenge.
Having a good season last year as he was Barcelona’s number 3 goalscorer, and also rose to the occasion when needed with his goals, gives Torres a real shot at football’s highest level; however, only for club events, facing a reluctant fate at FC Barcelona.
Torres is uncertain what role he will play under Hansi Flick, and would be on the front foot to start the season, given the forms of the other two players, Raphinha and rookie sensation Lamine Yamal, are also under consideration for starting duties.
From clubs, Aston Villa are said to show interest in Torres, but will not go to any length withoutTorres approving any shift.
Torres’ situation is complicated, both by his commitment to the club of buzzing Barcelona and his improving performances, as he has moved past being seen as a liability in front of goal.
At twenty-five years old, Torres’ market value is still high.
A transfer away from Barcelona would alleviate financial issues with the club while creating funds for new acquisitions.
The downside is Torres’ hesitance to leave the club, mixed with how reliable he has been off the bench for Barcelona.
