FC Barcelona has set its sights on a €50m AC Milan talent, as transfer speculation intensifies ahead of the summer window.
As FC Barcelona comes to terms with preparing for their last La Liga match of the 2024/25 season against Athletic Club, with the domestic treble already confirmed, their focus has shifted to off-pitch related matters.
Contract renewals for Raphinha and Hansi Flick have been finalized, while transfers are Alex Valle to Como and Ansu Fati nearing a long-awaited deal to AS Monaco, yet transfer gossip is all the rage, and Barcelona has been linked with a top-level midfielder, although still unclear whether they need.
The said player is AC Milan Tijanni Reijnders, with a €50m valuation for the Dutch midfielder, who has also attracted attention from Real Madrid and Manchester City, according to sempremilan.
Reijnders is a very rare footballer who dictates the tempo of games, likened to getting a bit of a mix of Pedri, due to being able to control the game.
Manchester City have earmarked him as the successor to the aging Ilkay Gundogan.
The question remains, where would Reijnders fit in at Barcelona? Pedri and Frenkie de Jong are players in similar positions who are performing at the highest level at the moment.
Barcelona’s transfer situation remains very unclear, and they are limited by finances in what they can spend.
When we look at Reijnders’ profile, it is an attractive one, but Hansi Flick’s squad already has considerable depth in midfield, and therefore, the link is probably more speculative than real.
The rumor could also be a way for Reijnders’ agent to take advantage of the interest and get a better deal, perhaps from Manchester City, by linking the player’s name to both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
