Barcelona is targeting three elite forwards to bolster their attack for the 2025/26 season, aiming to elevate their competitiveness in European football.
Barcelona are becoming more aggressive in their search for a specific elite forward for the 2025/26 season, which the club recognizes will come down to preparation, with there being so many top matches in front of them.
Deco, the sporting director and the club’s manager, Hansi Flick, had already spoken about acquiring a “differential” player to create greater competition in the final third.
Even though Barcelona has elite talents on the team like Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha, and the campaign that Ferran Torres is having, the club’s technical staff thinks an elite forward is necessary to sustain the club’s performance in all competitions.
The three names on the shortlist are completely recognizable. The three attacking players on the verge of getting closer are Luis Diaz, Marcus Rashford, and Nico Williams, as reported by CuleMania.
Luis Diaz is Barcelona’s priority target, and one who brings speed and ability to play multiple positions, as he has amassed 17 goals and 8 assists in 48 matches this season.
Although Diaz will cost around €85 million from Liverpool, the club is trying to find smart financial solutions, which are typical of the Barcelona manager and sporting director.
Rashford, who has contributed 11 goals and 9 assists in 41 appearances, has had a tumultuous season between leaving Manchester United to go on loan to Aston Villa, to coming back to trip along with Manchester United.
At 27, Rashford also has the added ability to play multiple positions as a forward, and would also be a viable option for the club if they pursue a loan-to-buy option, as United has valued Rashford at €40 million.
Williams, the third candidate, is further behind than the other two candidates.
The Athletic Club star has talent, that’s without question, but since he rejected Barcelona last year because of the registration and cap issues, his current market value has condemned his chances.
Barcelona is clearly willing to go for it to build a capable squad, but the financial consequences and the dictation of La Liga’s salary cap will be quite a determining factor, but acquiring one of these forwards might prove to be as pivotal in their search for silverware.
