Ever since breaking into Barcelona’s first team, Lamine Yamal’s rise on the world’s biggest stage has been a pleasure to behold.
Despite his young age, he was a focal point in Spain’s 2024 Euros triumph where he won the Young Player of the Tournament award.
This season he has slowed down, something with could be attributed to a recurring ankle injury, but he is still putting up unbelievable numbers.
This campaign it also feels like defenders are doubling up or sometimes tripling up on Yamal to stop his explosiveness.
However, this has meant that Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha have had more time and space, something that has helped them contribute even more.
Thierry Henry praises Lamine Yamal
In a recent interview, cited by Managing Barca, former Barcelona player Thierry Henry praised Yamal, claiming he is a ‘special player’.
“What impresses me the most about Lamine Yamal, besides his goals, skills and dribbling, is his maturity.
“He’s a special player because he understands how to control the rhythm of the game.”
Henry is in the conversation as one of the best players to play football and if he is praising Yamal then you know how talented he is.
Hopefully the 17-year-old can continue his electric form and who knows, he might even end up winning more than the French legend did.
