Manuel Neuer breaks silence on Ter Stegen’s new Germany position

Manuel Neuer finally speaks about Ter Stegen becoming Germany’s number one goalkeeper.

Following Manuel Neuer’s announcement of his retirement from international football, Marc-André ter Stegen has assumed the role of Germany’s primary goalkeeper.

Despite Neuer’s departure from the national team, he has not contacted Ter Stegen since his retirement. However, this may soon change. In a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, Neuer conveyed his well wishes to his successor and other German goalkeepers, stating,

“I wish him all the best, and not just him but all the other goalkeepers as well. I consistently strive to have dependable goalkeepers in our lineup. I am eager to see everyone, including Marc.”

It is common knowledge that Neuer and Ter Stegen have had disagreements throughout the years.

While there have been no instances of physical altercations arising from these disagreements, their rivalry is apparent, distinguishing them more as competitors rather than collaborative teammates.
