During an interview before Barcelona’s game in Belgrade, Serbian football legend Savo Milosevic expressed his views on Hansi Flick’s Barcelona, commending their strong performances thus far (h/t SPORT).
“Barça is the top contender, not just against Red Star Belgrade but against almost any team worldwide. It all boils down to Barcelona. If they operate at their peak, there shouldn’t be any problems,” he stated.
Reflecting on recent games against Bayern and Real Madrid, Milosevic characterized Barcelona’s approach as innovative.
“Many refer to it as modern football, but I view it as a completely new phenomenon on a global scale. I haven’t seen a team so impeccable technically and tactically, along with such fervor,” he stated.
Drawing parallels to Pep Guardiola’s iconic team, Milosevic proposed that Flick’s squad might even outdo the club’s legendary figures.
“This Barça team has the capability to surpass Guardiola’s squad. I truly believe it, because this team has an added element – they cover a lot of ground.”
Milosevic pointed out the key factor that makes the current Barça team so strong. This Barça not only maintains possession but also capitalizes on any gaps left by the opponents.
He also praised La Masia, the academy of the club, highlighting its significance during difficult periods.
“It is advantageous for soccer globally. It’s not just about finances. Barcelona is a global football role model, focusing on developing players rather than buying them, a strategy accessible to anyone with financial means – this is the true beauty.”
