This January transfer window has been fairly uneventful for Barcelona, outside of Ronald Araújo’s reported move to Juventus.
Eric Garcia, who was a target of Girona, is set to stay at the club this season after Hansi Flick sees him as a valuable asset who can play in defence and midfield.
One player who looked destined to leave was Ansu Fati, however, his transfer to Sevilla collapsed after Los Nervionense made a statement condemning the CSD’s choice to let Dani Olmo and Pau Victor be registered.
Despite this move falling through, Real Betis have recently been linked with a move for the 22-year-old, however, reports in Spain have claimed he would like to fight for his place.
Flick, who has reportedly decided Fati is not up to scratch, recently dropped him from the Super Cup final squad, has spoken about the Spanish wingers future at Barca.
“I am very happy with all the players. As for Ansu, after his injuries, he hasn’t been able to show his 100%. It’s sad,” Flick said in his Real Betis press conference, via Managing Barca.
“I was convinced he would be at his best. I am honest with my players. He needs to work like everyone else.”
Unfortunately for Fati, it seems like his future at the Blaugrana is already decided and with the club looking to bring in Marcus Rashford, it is probably best for his own career if he can find a move elsewhere this January.
