Last night, Hansi Flick’s Barcelona side were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against Madrid based Getafe.
Barca went 1-0 within ten minutes thanks to a goal from Jules Kounde, however, Mauro Arambarri clawed one back for the hosts, bringing the game level.
After that, Getafe sat back and defended for their life, ending the game with a measly 22% possession, which inevitably secured the 1-1 draw for the Geta Azulones.
In what was a resilience performance by José Bordalás’ side, the result has been overshadowed by racist abuse that Alejandro Balde reported after the match ended.
“I am going to file a complaint because during the match today, I received many racist insults. I notified the referee. I hope La Liga takes action,” Balde revealed in an interview after the 1-1 draw, via Managing Barca.
Flick also had some stern words for the media after he learnt that his player had been subject to vile abuse from some select home fans.
“The racist insults to Balde are shameful. There’s no place for that in football,” said Flick after the game ended.
Hopefully, La Liga decide to take action as racism has no place in any part of modern-day society, especially on the football pitch.
