FC Barcelona has finalized the venue for their UEFA Champions League home opener against PSG as they manage their ongoing stadium transition.

With the renovation process ongoing, the Blaugrana have been utilizing alternative venues, recently hosting Valencia at Estadi Johan Cruyff and planning to do the same for their La Liga clash against Getafe on September 21, 2025.

The club is working diligently to secure necessary permits, aiming to reopen Camp Nou for their match against Real Sociedad on September 28, pending approval from the Barcelona City Council.

However, for their UEFA Champions League home opener against PSG on October 1, 2025, Barcelona is set to play at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuic, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

The First Occupancy Licence, which the club hopes to obtain soon, will initially allow only 27,000 spectators in the south and main stands of Camp Nou.

UEFA regulations, however, mandate that lateral stands be operational for Champions League matches, requiring a minimum capacity of 45,000, which aligns with the second phase of Camp Nou’s reopening.

With this phase unlikely to be ready in time, Montjuic has emerged as the probable venue for the PSG clash.

The decision reflects the complexities of Barcelona’s stadium transition.

UEFA typically requires teams to use the same stadium throughout the Champions League group stage, but the club is expected to receive an exemption due to its unique circumstances.

Barcelona aim to have Camp Nou ready for their third group-stage match against Olympiacos on October 21, marking a significant step in their return to their historic home.

As Barcelona prepares to face Luis Enrique’s PSG, the Montjuic setting will add a distinctive backdrop to this high-profile encounter.

The club remains optimistic about their phased return to Camp Nou, with fans eagerly awaiting the moment they can cheer on their team in the revamped stadium, while supporting the Blaugrana through this transitional period.
