A multipurpose Barcelona defender now has the eyes of three European clubs, due to his impressive performances in the second half of the season.

According to Fichajes, Como, Girona, and Real Sociedad are all keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, who is able to play across multiple positions.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Barcelona is weighing up whether or not to sell the player to improve their finances while making space for new recruits, although manager Hansi Flick is keen to keep the player on board.

The player in question is Eric Garcia, who played 44 matches, scoring five goals and assisting three this season.

His versatility to play well in the centre back, full back, and midfield positions has been a highlight of the otherwise subpar campaign for Barcelona.

Flick appreciates Garcia’s versatility, while the sporting board is willing to let him go if a suitable offer arrives.

A potential sale could help the club balance the books, especially with the club planning to fund new signings.

Girona is at the forefront of the clubs interested in Garcia. Garcia had a commanding stint on loan at the club, making him an attractive target, and the Basque side is willing to pay as much as €20m for him to return permanently.

Como, coached by Barcelona great Cesc Fabregas, has also rekindled their interest after a failed attempt to sign him in the winter.

Real Sociedad views Garcia as a robust and flexible defensive option, also.

Barcelona remains open to extending Garcia’s contract if no satisfactory offer comes in.

Ultimately, what Garcia wants and the ambition of the clubs watching him over the next few weeks will play a major role in footballing home – for now, the future is still uncertain.
