Signing a striker seems to be all the rage amongst tops clubs and unfortunately there are not many quality options available for a reasonable price.
Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres is set to leave the Portuguese side but they would demand upwards of £50million.
Meanwhile Liverpool are willing to partways with Darwin Nunez but they recent declined a bid of £75million from Saudi Arabia.
Another potential option is Benjamin Sesko but his pricetag is still up in the air and with clubs such as Arsenal showing interest, he will not be cheap either.
One option that every top club seems to be monitoring is Newcastle Unied’s Alexander Isak.
The former Real Sociedad has been linked to Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal in recent weeks.
However, due to his electric form, the Magpies do not want to sell him.
Unfortunately for the Premier League side, if they cannot secure Champions League football they might be forced to let the Swede leave.
If this happens then the English side are expected to want over £100million, a figure that might not be possible for Bacelona.
Even though the funds might not be feasible for the Blaugrana, Isak has received praise from some of the best strikers to play the game, including Thierry Henry.
“At his previous club, he played a lot on the wing,” Henry said on CBS after the Carabao Cup final.
“You need help to move to the middle, to the left, to the right, back to the middle,” Henry continued.
“He’s a great finisher and creator, and has everything it takes to be a great goalscorer.”
Also after Newcastle United won the Carabao Cup last weekend, Isak spoke to the CBS desk where he was asked about comparisons to Henry.
“I think that is a stretch [quite far from right]. I think I need to do more but it feels good to be compared to him.”
Isak and Henry playstyle wise are very similar but what the Swedish striker lacks in speed, compared to Henry, he makes up for in his explosiveness.
If the 25-year-old forward can even have half of the career than Henry had then it can be considered a very successful one.
Who knows, he might even end up having that career at Barcelona.
