Barcelona keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will return to training with the team after recovering from a serious knee injury.

He has made his comeback smoothly and has been included in personal training exercises since Barcelona’s Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund,  Diario Sport has reported.

Ter Stegen was given half a season break; however, he was last spotted celebrating with teammates following their 4-1 victory against Girona.

Furthermore, the club dropped a video of him going for training, in which he can be seen saving and diving, thereby proving that he is working towards rebuilding his fitness and confidence.

Although an injury of this type heals in six to eight months, the recovery of Ter Stegen has been a slow one, and Barcelona’s physicians are pleased with how it is going.

Positively, he feels no pain in his knee, and there are high hopes he will return to full training after the game with Dortmund.

The German goalkeeper wants to play again this season, but he will be at the mercy of Barcelona’s fixture list.

Meanwhile, however, stand-in goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has kept the fort in his place.

But unless Ter Stegen continues to improve, he may feature in La Liga before the season’s end—especially if the title is already won by Barcelona.

His comeback would be a timely boost for coach Hansi Flick and the team as they look to complete the season with a bang.

The fans would be keen to see their number one keeper on the pitch in action again soon.
