The news around Barcelona’s goalkeeper has been mind-boggling, from Ter Stegen’s injury to Pena’s resurgence and then Scczesny coming out of retirement to sign for the club.

Barcelona’s goalkeeper options have been vast in the 2024/2025 season.

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen suffered a serious injury during a La Liga game and has since been out of action. Another positive outcome of the injury has been Wojciech Szczesny’s signing.

Despite only signing a one-year contract, Wojciech Szczesny has cemented himself as the club’s starting goalkeeper.

In today’s interview, “If you asked me at the start of the season, I’d say I’d be leaving Barcelona in June. But I love the time I’ve spent here. My family is happy; my son loves his school, and my wife loves being here. I’m open to everything.”

On this, Hansi Flick said: “I have not offered anything to any player; it is the work of Deco and the club. We are happy with him, but it is the work of Deco. We’re happy with him; that’ll be what I can say.”

Barcelona’s sporting director is sure to keep a close watch on the goalkeeper situation, and it remains to be seen how things will unfold in the summer.
