Star player prefers joining Barcelona over Real Madrid

Real Madrid transfer target open to joining Barcelona instead.

Alphonso Davies, a long-standing transfer target for Real Madrid, is now reportedly open to the idea of joining Barcelona.

The Canadian full-back, who is currently in the last year of his contract with Bayern Munich, could reunite with his former coach Hansi Flick, sparking interest in a potential free transfer to Barcelona next summer.

Real Madrid’s defensive lineup is currently strained, with key players David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao sidelined by serious injuries. Given their urgent need for reinforcements, Real had considered Davies as a primary target during the summer transfer window.

Despite being high on their list, the move never materialized. However, Los Blancos are still monitoring Davies closely, as they are unlikely to give up on a player they have pursued for so long.

Reports from TEAMtalk suggest that Barcelona might swoop in to sign Davies, as he would be keen to work under Flick again.

The two had a productive partnership at Bayern from 2019 to 2021, during which they won two Bundesliga titles and the Champions League. Flick’s influence in shaping Davies into one of the world’s top full-backs makes the prospect of reuniting with him appealing for the Canadian star.
