Earlier this week, Ronald Araújo reportedly made a major u-turn when it came to his future at Barcelona.

The Uruguayan has told his teammates and the club that he was planning to leave this January transfer window.

Serie A side Juventus were the most interested in the 25-year-old and even had an opening offer turned down by the Blaugrana.

However, after the Real Madrid win, news from Spain and Italy claimed that Deco, Hansi Flick and his teammates had convinced him to remain at the club.

Despite this positive news, it was reported earlier this morning that the Bianconeri were returning with a €70million bid.

It was originally reported that if Barça were going to accept a bid this month then that would be their valuation.

Fortunately, Toni Juanmarti has confirmed that the Uruguayan defender is very close to renewing his deal with Barcelona.

He claims that Deco and Araújo’s representatives are discussing the final details and it is expected he will sign his new contract next week.

This is a huge statement by the Blaugrana as the 25-year-old is one of the best defenders in the world and replacing him would cost a lot more than this deal will end up costing.
