In yesterday’s Champions League game against Benfica, Wojciech Szczęsny proved why he is Hansi Flick’s number-one keeper.
A lot of people thought the German was harsh on Inaki Pena after dropping him in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final, however, the Polish shot-stopper has shown why he is starting over the Spaniard.
Due to these impressive displays, as well as Marc-Andre Ter Stegen returning closer to fitness, questions around Pena’s future are now being brought into question.
PSG target Inaki Pena as Gianluigi Donnarumma’s replacement
Fichajes have claimed that French Champions PSG are closing monitoring Pena as an option if Gianluigi Donnarumma departs next summer.
The Italian showstopper has not lived up to the expectations since leaving AC Milan and they are after another error in the UCL against Liverpool, PSG could look to cash in.
Pena’s contract with the Blaugrana is set to end in 2026 and with a market value of €10million, the club could look to cut their losses, especially if their interest in Espanyol’s Joan Garcia is to be believed.
