Signing a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski seems to be the main target heading into the summer transfer window. 

Liverpool duo Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have been just two of the names that have been heavily linked over the past few months. 

However, there is one player who would be a perfect fit under Hansi Flick, Julian Alvarez.

There have even been reports recently claiming that the Blaugrana tried to sign him before his £81million move to Atletico Madrid.  

When Alvarez joined Diego Simeone’s side it was due to not wanting to be a backup to Erling Haaland at Manchester City, an indication he is prioritising his playing career, a decision which has been validated.

Pau Cubarsi wants Barcelona to sign Julian Alvarez

Speaking in a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi has admitted he would like the club to sign the Argentine.

“If I could sign just one player for Barça who would it be? Julián Álvarez.”

Alvarez has adapted well to life in La Liga, scoring 22 goals and providing five assists in all competitions this campaign. 

Whilst a move seems impossible, Atleti have been prone to selling their big stars over the years, especially if their valuation is met. 

When you consider the price they paid for him though, their valuation is most likely out of Barcelona’s reach, especially for next summer.
