FC Barcelona has revealed the venue for their highly anticipated UEFA Champions League match against Olympiacos.

The Catalan giants are navigating a complex transition as they balance the demands of a major renovation with the needs of their passionate fanbase.

With administrative hurdles and construction timelines at play, the club has been forced to make critical decisions about where its home matches will be played in the interim.

In an official statement, FC Barcelona confirmed that their UEFA Champions League round of 16 match against Olympiacos, scheduled for Tuesday, October 21, will take place at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic rather than Spotify Camp Nou.

This decision underscores the ongoing delays in obtaining the necessary permits to reopen the partially renovated Camp Nou, which currently has a limited capacity of 27,000 seats.

The club is prioritizing financial considerations, as Montjuic offers more seating and greater revenue potential during this transitional period.

The statement also provided insight into the progress of Camp Nou’s redevelopment.

Barcelona is actively working with the city council to address recent amendments and secure the required permits.

Originally, there was hope that the team could return to Camp Nou for their La Liga match against Girona on October 18.

However, it now appears likely that the team will remain at Montjuic until November, when phase 1B of the Camp Nou project is expected to be completed, allowing 45,000 fans to attend matches.

FC Barcelona expressed gratitude to its members and supporters for their patience during this “complex and exciting process.”

The club’s focus remains on ensuring a smooth transition back to the revamped Spotify Camp Nou. This project promises to elevate the fan experience while preserving the stadium’s historic legacy.

For now, Montjuic will continue to serve as the temporary home for this highly anticipated Champions League clash.
