FC Barcelona officially announces 22-player squad list to face Athletic Club in a high-stakes La Liga title showdown.
The German coach sticks largely to his recent core, blending experienced pillars with several youngsters as Barça look to sustain their title push in one of Spain’s most hostile grounds.
The travelling squad underlines both the depth in attacking areas and the strain on the defensive line.
The headline inclusion is Lamine Yamal, who once again makes the list and is expected to play a decisive role from the right wing after his recent run of standout performances, as per the official Barcelona squad list.
Alongside him, Ferran Torres and Raphinha are also named, giving Flick multiple options in the wide areas and at centre-forward.
Dani Olmo and FermĂn LĂ³pez are part of the midfield unit, offering creativity and late runs into the box, while Marc CasadĂ³ is included as a key piece to provide balance and defensive coverage in the centre of the pitch.
In goal, Joan GarcĂa leads the contingent of shot-stoppers, joined by his fellow keepers to ensure full coverage between the sticks.
In defence, Ronald AraĂºjo and Pau CubarsĂ headline the centre-back options, with Eric GarcĂa and Gerard MartĂn also present to give Flick flexibility in terms of structure and profiles.
The full-back positions are more stretched due to injuries, but there is still enough versatility in the group to shift between a back four and hybrid shapes if needed.
Notably, several important names miss out through injury, which inevitably shapes how this squad looks. The absences of Alejandro Balde, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, Frenkie de Jong and long-term casualty Gavi remove experience and technical quality from all three lines.
Even so, the list shows Flick’s trust in the next wave, with La Masia graduates and recent signings expected to shoulder responsibility in a high-intensity environment.
